Sometimes personal sacrifices are needed to be made...
One day as a child while I was at a toy store with my mother and brother, my mother gave my older brother, Peter, $10 to buy a toy. As we were perusing through the selections of toys, one certain toy stood out the most for me and for him. Peter wanted a new model robot toy, while I was interested in the new pack of trading cards. Both of the items were $10 exactly, and since the money belonged to Peter, he selected the model robot to purchase.
As we went to the paying line in the front of the store, Peter saw me set the pack of cards, since I didn't have any money to purchase them. Once he saw me do this, he went over to the pack of cards, looked at them, and set his model robot down. Then he handed the pack of cards to the cashier and paid for them, and he handed the pack of cards to me.
Because of this selfless act of his, I came to appreciate my family more and to truly value my family more than any other groups of people. This event had taught me the importance of family and that sometimes one may need to make personal sacrifices for someone he or she loves. Though sacrificing a toy isn't quite as important as sacrificing one's life like Antigone did for Polynices, the sacrifices were truly important and cannot be taken for granted.
